Your GDPR Rights (if applicable)
Smart Event operates under the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This regulation distinguishes between two types of organizations that handle personal data:
Data Controllers
Organizations that determine how personal data is used and are primarily responsible for its protection.
Data Processors
Organizations that process personal data on behalf of data controllers.
Who Controls The Attendee Event Data?
When attendees use an event built with Smart Event, the event organizer is typically the data controller. This means they decide what information is collected through the event app and how it's used. Smart Event acts as a data processor, providing the tools and platform for the organizer to manage attendee data.
Third-Party Data Sharing
We may share your data with third-party service providers who help us operate Smart Event. These providers are only authorized to use your data for the specific services they perform on our behalf. We never share your data with anyone who doesn't use Smart Event or who doesn't have a strict obligation to protect your privacy. Smart Event's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Data Retention
We store your data for as long as your Smart Event account is active or as needed to provide our services. We may also retain data for legal or business purposes, but only for the minimum time necessary. Event organizers can choose to delete attendee information at any time.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
Cookies are tiny internet files that live in your browser. We use cookies to personalize your website visits, to "remember" your preferences, and to "recognize" you on subsequent visits to provide greater personalization. In case you do not want this, you can easily clear all cookies from your browser.
How Smart Event Protects Your Information
Smart Event servers are hosted in The Netherlands, a region with a strong focus on data privacy. We take information security very seriously and are committed to protecting your data in accordance with the strictest regulations.
Smart Event is fully GDPR compliant, ensuring your information is handled according to the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation. We are also ISO 27001:2022 certified, demonstrating our commitment to maintaining robust information security management systems. Additionally, our SOC 2 Type 2 certification verifies the effectiveness of our controls to safeguard your data.
We have tried our best in removing any possible security holes in our released browser extensions and apps. However, since it is hard to 100% verify software, we cannot guarantee that Smart Event services are entirely free of vulnerabilities. Smart Event is not responsible for any security issues caused by Smart Event services.
Information Collected About Attendees Through Event Apps
Event organizers control the information collected about attendees through their event apps and web apps. Smart Event does not use this information for marketing purposes.
We may use anonymized attendee data for analytics to improve our platform, but this data will not be traceable to any individual.
If an attendee declines to share their information through the event app and web app, their details will not be collected or shared with Smart Event or any third party.
